چکیده

In this paper we study a model for HIV and TB coinfection. We consider the integer order and the fractional order versions of the model. Let a 2 1⁄20:78; 1:0] be the order of the fractional derivative, then the integer order model is obtained for a 1⁄4 1:0. The model includes vertical transmission for HIV and treatment for both diseases. We compute the reproduction number of the integer order model and HIV and TB submodels, and the stability of the disease free equilibrium. We sketch the bifurcation diagrams of the integer order model, for variation of the average number of sexual partners per person and per unit time, and the tuberculosis transmission rate. We analyze numerical results of the fractional order model for different values of a, including a 1⁄4 1. The results show distinct types of transients, for variation of a. Moreover, we speculate, from observation of the numerical results, that the order of the fractional derivative may behave as a bifurcation parameter for the model. We conclude that the dynamics of the integer and the fractional order versions of the model are very rich and that together these versions may provide a better understanding of the dynamics of HIV and TB coinfection.

A TB-HIV/AIDS coinfection model and optimal control treatment

We propose a population model for TB-HIV/AIDS coinfection transmission dynamics, which considers antiretroviral therapy for HIV infection and treatments for latent and active tuberculosis. The HIV-only and TB-only sub-models are analyzed separately, as well as the TB-HIV/AIDS full model. The respective basic reproduction numbers are computed, equilibria and stability are studied. Optimal contro...

TB and HIV Coinfection: Current Trends, Diagnosis and Treatment Update

17 the impact that hiv has on the pathogenesis of tuberculosis (tb) is clear. It is one of the most important risk factors associated with an increased risk of latent tb infection (ltbi) progressing to active tb disease. hiv-infected people have an annual risk of 5% to 15% of developing active tb once infected (Rieder, 1999). tb is the most common opportunistic infection in people living with h...

[Dynamic study of tuberculosis mortality in São Paulo State, Brazil: a Bayesian approach].

This study used dynamic linear models to analyze the dynamics of tuberculosis (TB) mortality in São Paulo State, Brazil. The study confirms previous findings of a decline in TB mortality in State in the last decade, while pointing to an increase in deaths beginning in 2005. Analysis of the two most frequent underlying causes pointed to HIV/TB co-infection. Forecasts for the next two years were ...

Immunoendocrine Interactions during HIV-TB Coinfection: Implications for the Design of New Adjuvant Therapies

Worldwide, around 14 million individuals are coinfected with both tuberculosis (TB) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). In coinfected individuals, both pathogens weaken immunological system synergistically through mechanisms that are not fully understood. During both HIV and TB infections, there is a chronic state of inflammation associated to dramatic changes in immune cytokine and endocri...

A Mathematical Model for HIV-TB Co-infection: The Effect of Treatment

Abstract. We propose a population model for HIV-TB co-infection dynamics by considering treatments for HIV infection, active tuberculosis and co-infection. The HIV only and TB only models are analyzed separately, as well as full model. The basic reproduction numbers for TB (RT0 ) and HIV (RH0 ) and overall reproduction number for the system R0 = max{R T 0 ,R H 0 } are computed. The equilibria a...
